My counts-as Chaos Vindicators arrived a few days ago. These lovely machines are from puppetswar.com, a small mini maker in Poland. Check out the site, it’s well worth the visit. There are a lot of things I want (check out the Gringo Ork bits), and even with overseas shipping the prices are excellent . These two models together cost as much as a single Games Workshop Chaos Vindicator. These models are the both the “Big Momma on ‘Ursus’ Tractor.”
If anybody’s interested, the “Big Momma” cannon is designed to fit over a standard Games Workshop Rhino body, and can be purchased separately. However, it looks like the separate cannon kit does not come with the cool dozer blade attachment.
I’ve just pieced the kits together for the above image. They still need to be washed (they’re resin) and the parts need to be trimmed and filed down in parts. There are, unfortunately, some very noticeable mould lines in places. On the plus side, these are not complicated kits and there aren’t may pieces that need work.
These should clean up easily, and assemble even more easily. I’ve been warned by another fellow who purchased this that I should pin the dozer blade due to its weight. I don’t think it’s that heavy, but I can see the join points being an issue if not reinforced. It actually looks like the blade can be magnetized. I don’t know if I want to do that – I think I would rather drill out the part and add rods that would just slide in, so the blade won’t fall off whenever the model is moved.
I have a Chaos Tank sprue with enough extra bits to give both of these the required Chaos vehicle weapon options I selected for the hobby challenge. I’m not sure where I’ll mount the missile launcher – I may have to replace the shell armature as the top is otherwise pretty detailed.
All in all, these things looked awesome on the site, and now that they’re actually here sitting on my table I think they’re going to be an excellent addition to my army.
