March Hobby Progress Challenge – Complete!

Introducing one of the Fornaxi, Tritius.

Helbrute FINAL Poster 01 optimized

A standard Helbrute.  I may add a couple of inserts to convert the multi-melta in his right hand into a las-cannon or an autocannon, gut that will come (much) later.

So, now that I’m done I have to admit…  I’m not sure if I like it.  It’s hard to say exactly what’s causing me to not feel the love.  Maybe it’s the detailing – there are places that look like more could be done.

It’s not my best work, model-wise.  I didn’t clean the model that well – mould lines are everywhere.  The skin-coloured base coat kept rubbing off the primer.  I really need to seal the model before I game with it.  Also, enough paint from the basecoat got into the gaps of the model that final assembly was difficult.  I’m sure you can see the gaps.  I definitely can.  If I ever do another Helbrute, I think I’ll definitely be doing it differently as far as the base coat is concerned.

I do like the basing. That Texture paint from GW is awesome, and the wash and drybrush came out much better than I expected.

Well, it was definitely a learning experience.  Plus, it’s put me ahead for my April project.

Never Too Late To Learn
