That Other Miniatures Game I Bought…

I also finished assembling the Dragon Lords fleet for Uncharted Seas.

Sorry if the image seems misty.  The camera lens was dirty and I didn’t notice until after I’d put my photography setup away.

I have to say, assembly was brutal.  In all fairness to Spartan Games, this was the original starter set for the Dragon Lords plus some extra models, most of which were cast before the models were resculpted.

Two cruisers are later-generation models, and assembly was easy.  I just needed to add a bit of green stuff to fill in the gaps, but otherwise the sails just fit into a lovely slot in the hull.  I still pinned them, though it may not have been necessary.

The other ship models were difficult to assemble.  No slots in the hulls.  The sails were intended to just sit on the hulls, held on by a thin bead of glue.  Breakage must really be common for these vessels, since the obvious place to pick the models up is by a sail.  I pinned everything, which was a challenge due to how thin the sails are in places.  I damaged a few when the pin vice bit emerged unexpectedly, but could bend the metal back in place once on the pin.  The only obvious blunder is the forward sail on the large battleship, which is clearly not vertical.  I will need to remove it, if I can, and redrill and reglue.  Fortunately, the boxed starter set came with an extra forward sail for the boat.

However, it was missing one of the mid-sails (mizzen sails?) for the cruisers.  I did have an extra frigate sail from the smallest ships, and since they were about the same size, I just improvised.

Can You Spot the Difference?

Can You Spot the Difference?

If you look, the cruiser on the left has a notch out of the bottom of the mid-sail.

On the bright side, I have a fleet assembled and, while not painted, at least playable.  Now I just have to wait for the heat and humidity to drop before I cover all these models with primer.
