What To Do…

I know I’ve been quiet for a while.  Frankly, I’m at a bit of a loss in terms of what to do with my hobby time this year.  I have choices to make…

Thank You, Loopy!

One of the other participants in the Independent Characters 2013 Hobby Progress Challenge just published a blog article about the challenge, and had some very nice things to say about my work.  Check it out!

In response his kind words, I want to say that having a Space Ork army led by a dentist is just brilliant.  And the cyboar riders and Adeptas SorORKitas are just the icing on this very imaginative army.

Independent Characters Hobby Progress Challenge 2013 Final

Here are all the units I completed as part of this challenge.

Legion of the Burning Light

Legion of the Burning Light

There are two incomplete units not in this picture:  A squad of Chosen and a second Vindicator (Big Momma Cannon).  Unfortunately, this means I didn’t complete the 1850 points, but with some tweaking I can field a 1500 point list.  That’s not such a bad thing–and it does make this my largest army.

Remembering the Fallen

I just wanted to take a little time to thank all those who ever served in the military, defending my country, my freedom, my way of life.  Especially those who went to war and never made it back.

To all of you, I am grateful that the wars I am most likely to fight in my life will be on a tabletop with plastic soldiers.

Thank you.

November Hobby Progress Challenge – Vindicators!

Kind of.

This month I will be assembling and painting the “Big Momma Cannons” I purchased from Puppetswar last spring.

Big Momma Cannons aka Vindicators

I am really just aiming to get one of these done, but if I can do both, so much the better.  The only thing that really concerns me is the weather is taking a turn for the worse, as it always does this time of year.  Priming could be a challenge.

October Hobby Progress Challenge – Complete

I’ll do the big poster image on the weekend, but right now I have about an hour left to post proof that I got the unit done in time.  So, here’s Fax Castrum.

And Now for Something Completely Different…

I finally pulled out my Uncharted Seas fleets over the past weekend.  I washed resin on Shroud Mages and Sky Pirates, and primed my Dragon Lords fleet.  I figure it was high time I got this ball rolling, especially with the bulk of the Sky Pirates models finally released.

All Set Up

All Set Up

For the Dragon Lords, I’m just working on a single test model right now.  It’s not done yet – the sail is still being worked on.  I’ll post pictures when it’s ready.

I’m doing the hull in a brighter brown – almost an orange.  The sail is going to be a powdered blue, washed with a much darker glaze and highlighted with silver so it shines in certain light.  I’m trying to create something different than the pictures of Dragon Lords vessels I’ve seen so far.
