Going Overboard

So… remember when I said I bought a lot of Uncharted Seas stuff from Mini War Gaming’s “Going Out of Business” Sale?  Well, after they increased the discount on Spartan Games to 70%,  I couldn’t resist making another purchase.  Twice.

Here’s the haul…

The Bounty of the Sea

The Bounty of the Sea

That’s more than enough to get started on the game, I think, though I may… er, need to by more stuff later.

Many of these are the older, hand-sculpted models.  Though the redone models Spartan released last year are better, I really couldn’t argue with the price on the originals.  The real trick is going to be getting all this assembled and painted while juggling real life and the WH40K Hobby Progress Challenge.

Want a closer look at what I got?

From left to right in the big picture…

The Ralgard

The Ralgard

  • The Ralgard starter fleet (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, 6 frigates)
  • A flagship – it’s a resin brick.  Believe me, this picture doesn’t convey the size.
  • Two balloonships
  • Two heavy cruisers
  • An extra cruiser
  • Three extra frigates
The Shroud Mages

The Shroud Mages

  • The starter fleet (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, 6 frigates)
  • 3 extra frigates
  • Two “Midnight” class cruisers for extra black magic shennanigans
Imperial Navy

Imperial Navy

  • The starter fleet (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, 6 frigates)
  • A paddlewheel-powered flagship
  • Two assault baloons
  • A mage sloop (one of my favourite models in the whole line)
The Dragon Lords

The Dragon Lords

  • The starter fleet (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, 6 frigates)
  • An elder dragon
  • Two “Invoker” class cruisers for extra magic-driven firepower
  • An extra cruiser
  • Three extra frigates
Orc Raiders

Orc Raiders

  • The starter fleet (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, 6 frigates)
  • I would have bought more, but MWG sold out of orc stuff pretty quick.
The Sky Pirates

The Sky Pirates

  • Two battleships
  • Six cruisers
  • Sadly, there is no “starter fleet” for these guys.  In fact, there are only two models of the sky pirate fleet produced so far.  I may try to do something to represent a few other ships, especially the frigates, so I can launch a “legal” fleet.
Uncharted Seas "Terrain"

Uncharted Seas “Terrain”

  • A set of jetties and wharfs
  • A lighthouse

All in all, enough to keep me busy with the game for a very, very long time.

The first fleet to sail:  The Dragon Lords!  Nothing like warships with dragon wings for sails.  Pictures soon.
